🕳️ Cocoon Game

The Cocoon Game is a critical project. It constructs five virtual spaces through digital installations, which are filled with enormous virtual images and desire traps. At first, it will make the player seem to have entered an entertainment paradise, but once the player is addicted to the traps, the installation will undergo a violent reversal, which will bring the player a sense of oppression. The red atmosphere created by the space will make players feel nervous and uneasy and want to escape from it. The project includes two parts, one is to show the game mechanics of different spaces in the form of a game interactive interface and the other is to present the complete game music and pictures in the form of animation. Presented in the form of a game installation the project explores our addiction to online entertainment and the loss of control of desire and leads people to re-examine the role of the information cocoons in contemporary society, thereby reflecting on our relationship with the virtual world.

BACKGROUND


RESEARCHIn my research, I felt that the three keywords of "surrounded, monitored, and attracted" appeared at the same time.






DESIGN CONCEPT


SCENE I_ TITTYTAINMENT SPACE
The player will see each beam of light displays a short video of glitchy virtual videos. The video disappears when the player approaches the beam. and an infant sucking on a pacifier appears with a People's love for the entertainment industry is like a baby's inability to leave a pacifier for comfort, and once you're addicted to it, it's hard to break free.



SCENE II_ BLIND BOX ECONOMY SPACE
The player type the blind box style they want on the typewriter, the hammers of the typewriter vibrate to trigger the switch, and the lottery machine rotates and shakes out a blind box. When the blind box was opened, there was a note with nonsense literature written on it. People are drawn to raffle-style blind boxes, but it's just a form of raffle bought at a premium.



SCENE III_ MORTGAGE SLAVES SPACE
The player will see a circular turntable on which mortgage slaves with debts are chased by loans and never stop. Players can browse the background information and stories of each debtor from the perspective of capitalists through the monitor.



SCENE IV_ INFORMATION COCOON SPACE
The player will see the space is filled with virtual silk woven curtains, just like a cocoon. When the player walks into the curtains, looming entertainment images and recommendation algorithms will be projected on the curtains, thus providing immersive entertainment and a sense of oppression caused by excessive entertainment.



SCENE V_ EASTER EGG SPACE
The player finally returns to the central of the cocoon room, writes down feelings or thoughts, and then escapes from the cocoon room.
