At present, the world is facing an energy crisis, and new energy sources are also in an unstable state. If fossil energy is exhausted in the future, and at the same time the supply of new energy is limited, what form will the future energy take? Is this energy sustainable?

"Living Energy Program" builds a virtual future world, which extracts enzymes from microorganisms, plants and living cells of human blood, and converts them into a steady stream of new energy through link technology. However, the holder of link technology is unique, which brings oppression and injustice of capital in society. 

This project is divided into two parts. First, the principle of future energy production is explained through the living energy link machines; secondly, through narrative stories and animations, it shows the energy production in the fictional world and the order relationship it brings. The project guides people to rethink the energy crisis through more possibilities of new energy forms, and observe the injustice and oppression of capital brought about by the ubiquitous energy production in real society from a virtual perspective.


INSPIRATION


According to the United Nations, about 6 billion people around the world are completely dependent on fossil fuels from other countries , which makes them vulnerable to geopolitical shocks. Also, the frequent occurrence of extreme weather has led to challenges in the stability of new energy sources that are affected by the climate. This has also led to an increased reliance on fossil energy sources.

RESEARCHLee Sang Yup, the winner of the 2018 Eni Advanced Environmental Solutions Award, provides an idea of using microorganisms to generate oil. Based on these studies, I imagined and set what the future energy looks like. Microorganisms, animals, plants, and human blood cells can extract enzymes to generate energy. These organisms that can extract enzymes are the life source of energy. They can provide vitality for energy, thus forming a sustainable living energy.

STORYBOARD In this fictional future world, any form of biotechnology is fully legalised. Humans are genetically programmed to require an energy supply to sustain life, and to use energy to pay for their living expenses. The only way to continue liv- ing is to get more energy through various means, such as work and trade. Energy is the currency of the world, all we earn and spend is energy.



RELATION DIAGRAM
In 2090, the total amount of global energy can only supply the consumption of all mankind for one year. As a result, bc company developed living energy machines, which rescued the crisis, but the high-priced operation of the machines led to further increases in energy prices. When winter came, the company released household energy link machines to charge a monthly license fee for the machines. Ultimately, BC company holds the largest energy capital in the world. The gap between the rich and the poor has widened further, and the financial order has fallen into chaos.
